Since I am new to the boards; I don't know how much statistical analysis has been performed.
Here is some good material or ways to get the point across.
Following is hyperlink from OONET regarding stem positions.

Click on it and then pick a "on demand" profession and scroll to the bottom. At the bottom of each profession will have median salary; number of people doing the job in 2004 and projected need for the next 10 years.

Only thing missing is to correlate U.S. university graudates over the next 10 years and the gap between demand and supply of the skilled workers. Analysis has to be more facts then words and can't be too long winded.

Whether overflow happens vertically or horzontaly is subject to interpretation and we cannot really say if EB3 ROW is getting any undue advantage.....

Is there any proof that there are even are unused visas? I find this topic a rather moot point.
With India, China, The Philipinnes and Mexico all being oversubscribed, they appear to be reaching their 7% limit. With all the countries in ROW I doubt if any one country is even vaguelly reaching their 7% limit.
With the obvious retrogression across the board, it just tells me that there isn't anything spare to share around in whatever direction.
Am I just totally missing the point?!

I still fail to see how country caps on Employment Based immigration serve the purpose of diversity. Look, people from India/China with H1B visas and pending AOS applications are already here, right? They are here and will be here regardless of whether they get GCs now or after 10 years. Many of them bought houses, have families, American born kids. How making them wait for years is gonna serve the purpose of diversity? You think if an Indian guy will be using AC21/EAD for years, going to finger printing every year, going through secondary security check on airports, in time he is gonna evolve into something less Indian? It's gonna be the same people but with different documents in their pockets.
For diversity purposes there is lottery, and the purpose of that lottery is exactly that - the diversity. Also, if the government wants diversity, they should have immigration program like Canada has. Where people are issued permanent residency BEFORE coming to the country and spending years working for that country.

I am working with my company for last 3 yrs on H1-B. I have an approved I-140 and I am filed under EB3.
My H1 expires soon and the employer is going to apply for an extension. After that, they plan to file a new labor for me in EB2 and port the EB3 PD; once the EB2 I-140 is approved. My current title is "Software Engineer". They plan to file me as "Senior Software Engineer". My experience before joining my current employer was 7 yrs.
Is this a legally advisable/feasible scenario? I do have EAD and want to make sure I keep my options open. Given the current scenario, it may take a while to get the new EB2 labor and I140 approved.

The most of the guys posting in this thread is not going to vote. Even I think, we all do not have our names in electoral list. There is no sense in arguing who is best or who should be next PM, sitting in US. Furthermore, most of the educated, urban voters will never go to polling booth in hot summer to stand in line to do their duty as a citizen.. Indian�s election of their representatives is fundamentally a show of money and muscle power. Election in India is just a business. It is just investment of money by political parties with the help of capitalists and their lobbyist to get the vote from rural, uneducated, divided voters across the nation. All parties are corruptive, communal, divisive, plays vote bank politics. No exceptions! (whether it is Congress, BJP, communists, BSP, SP, and countless regional parties). One thing I can say or compare about Congress and BJP. Congress is the only party has responsible for bringing both good (economy, growth, education,) and bad (corruption and countless other) thing to India. BJP has not done any good thing to India sofar, only it brought bad things to India (divisive, corruption).

Though, he is not a full time politician, and not a good crowd pulling speaker, he has strong record. He has quietly achieved lot as a RBI governor; FM and PM. US nuclear agreement is a big achievement in his career, despite he had a minority government with the strong left opposition. He does not have long term independent vision, and strong leadership skills. He was widely accepted by all part of the country, as he has no controversial issues.

He does not have any significant record/achievement to back his claim for PM (either as a ex-minister or politician). Now these missionaries are setting up miracle boxes ,so far in rural areas, where poor people that drop their wishes in the box see miracles happening.Only hitch is entire family has to convert to Christianity.Yeah abuse of poverty.But there is discrimination (hoping that when you speak of poor you speak of poor of all religions)even in miracles.Some how these missionaries don't dare to mess with Muslim poor.So Muslim poor are left alone. Neither your MMS wrapped State does anything to alleviate their poverty nor these missionaries shower their miracles on them.

First, there is no "profiling" in India. Everyone gets frisked and security at airports in India is top class. Problem with US is "only select" people get frisked most often based on their skin color or names. This is a fact. I am a frequent flyer consultant , I have observed this many many times.
Second, Indians are doing what they are supposed to do. first, they show respect to dignitaries by not frisking or not stripping robert gates, george clooney or bill clinton or any other dignitary from any other country. Americans are not doing what they are supposed to do.
When geroge fernandes was stripped , he had a diplomatic passport. Everyone knows he was defence minister and there was a delegation with him. Secondly, abdul kalam was frisked, which I feel is also negligence of Indian authorities not to be assertive.
So Indians are not doing their job by not being assertive and taking care of its own citizens. and not pressing for their own rights,
I do not feel so bad about Shahrukh, although I think it is profiling, as I do for fernandez and kalam.

Problem is we Indians see Indira Gandhi Airport, Jawaharlal Mission, Rajiv Gandhi Electricity Yojna, Indira Gandhi University, Jawahar Lal Uniiversity, Rajiv Gandhi Jal Sansthan, Rajiv Gandhi This Indira Gandhi that, so we get a feeling as if we are breathing just because of these 3 individuals. They are too good at advertising their Netas, that you just forget if anybody else ever existed... Govt is never one man effort/show.It is a team effort. Just like software projects are.For sure it will not be one man show with BJP.We have NDA's rule for example.While we are that NDA had allies in it too.
