Try detaining any of their top Hollywood Heroes at an Indian airport for 2 hours and see how USA media and people will react to it.
You people have no respect for your own motherland and always think everything American is good than your own country. Learn to stand up for your motherland. Just because you want your greencard does not mean you forget your roots. Anti-Immigrants (read racists) of this country will still call you slumdogs even if you are a citizen of this country. I completely agree with you that we should never forget our roots or our motherland. India is far better than US when it comes to family values and many other things. However, this story has nothing to do about standing up for our own country/motherland. Every person who has a common name with terrorist names has had troubles at POE since 9/11. So who cares if he is SRK or anyone for that matter. When Colin Powell was the chief of security under Bush administration he had to go through airport security just like any other common person. The TSA here in US treats everyone the same. Do you think ministers or celebrities in India follow any security procedures ? Every now and then you hear of ministers and celebrities involved in smuggling scandals.

I believe in luck in the GC process. Before 2005 PERM process, many folks applied in states where Labor was fast. They were able to get greencards within a couple of years while others were stuck in Labor Backlog centers (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=67&Itemid=50). Some cleared all hurdles and got stuck in namechecks for years. Until 2007 Namecheck was a big scare. (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=81&Itemid=61)
Many people could not file in July 07 for various reasons. Some people were born in India but were brought up in other country. Even they are stuck. Some people decided to rise in their careers and changed jobs on H1. While they did rise, but lost in the grreencard PD race.
So definitely luck pays its role.

1) Increasing GC numbers
2) Recapturing numbers and instituting permanent Rollover mechanisms
3) Eliminate country quotas
Part 1 and 2 would help everyone from around the world. While 3 would benefit citizens of a few countries more than others, all it is saying is STOP discriminating in employment based green cards on basis of country of origin. You are not BORN with skills and neither does being born in country A make you more SKILLED than being born in country B.
If you want to see 3 as being the reason to not participate, that you are implicitly condoning discrimination against people born in certain country even though you will benefit equally from 1 and 2.
Are you suggesting that IV's efforts would increase the wait times for ROW?

well, the people who are in eb3 and cannot do anything about it, for reasons that you quoted, i agree, it is a pity. but, you know what, "life is not fair".
it is a good thing u worry about others, and want to help them. however, when u look at those bills you mentioned and none getting passed. yes, it may look like a waste to do anything. however, we need to keep trying. with the limited resources we have, i think we should focus on "things/bills/issues" the IMPACT most people. doing something only for eb3 or eb2, in my opinion, would be even more difficult, given the progress legal immigration has made in this country. so, may be, u cud help in getting the things done that impact more people.
and it is ur decision not to go eb2 (even, with the resources you mentioned). have to admit, thats strange. may be u r like me, who is not obsessed with a gc. however, we live in a society, in a system (however flawed it may be), and we all try to live by those rules, try to use opportunities that are available legally and make our lives, a little better.

what i am trying to say is please think in a global scale and help solve issues which can impact the MOST number of people and not just a minority. coz, the exceptions u stated, will be there for any issue.

Please let me correct you EB3 is not a minority but a Majority in the EB community. just because a situation is not worth helping is not any reason to not step forward. I personally feel that IV can do something which will help EB3 because that i sthe only category which has no help from anyone. As for EB2 i have no grudges against them . A lot of the networking based on national origin interferes with how at least H1 jobs are landed here. So there is a reason to have rules preventing a monopoly.

in the next 10-20 years, US needs steady stream of educated young working population(say 25-40 yrs olds) to take care of all the commitments of social security and medicare. Babyboomers will soon outnumber the younger generations. immigration is a need for US now more than ever in the known history. employment based immigration is definitely going to increase/needs to be increased at any cost.

It is very clear that there is absolutely no meaning for "quota" on 485 applicants.
They are allowed to continue to stay in US forever, from the date of their application (assuming the case is good, and eventually will be approved, when visa is available).
So the whole argument about "diversity" or even "controlled immigration" doesn't stand, since the 485 applicants are here permanently "except" for an official "GC card".
The only thing the "quota" does is creating "uncertainty" in the mind of genuine applicants. This causes less spending, less home buying and eventually causing bad for the US economy. This just creates a second layer of "tax-payers" who have extremely high "purchase power", but doesn't utilize their purchase power, due to "uncertainity"
I wonder why the politicians doesn't realize this simple fact yet?
They either shouldn't allow 485's to wait in US (for diversity & controlled immigration claim), or should just remove the quota for 485's, and let them live their lives & utilize their purchase power to help US economy.

It wont be an issue since you already gor your GC or I-485 filed. I failed to understand still what you are doing here.
If one filed I-485, isn't employee-employer relationship comes under a questionmark? what if that company is closed ? And if this memo is implemented, most of the GC filing IT Inc. will be shut down sooner and hence will be a big mess..they are the ones who are supporting for their GC.

After reading through the forums, I understand the EB3-World needs to become current for any others to move forward.
But now I notice that EB3-World itself has stopped moving after jumping for some months. Any reasons? (The 245i is already cleared and now it is in Aug 02)

But when August bulletin is issued in mid-July, it does not impact the petitions received in July, because the August bulletin applies to August and even if August is retrogressed until 1975, they still have to accept 485s until 31st July.
